Purpose
EarnedValueCalc is an independent educational decision-support tool for project controls. It performs deterministic arithmetic from user-entered EVM inputs; it does not estimate project progress from external data and does not replace an approved EVMS or professional judgement.
Formula policy
Core performance ratios and forecast relationships are checked against established PMI educational materials and U.S. Department of Energy EVM guidance. Where multiple EAC methods exist, the tool labels the forecast assumption rather than presenting one scenario as universally correct.
Input policy
- PV, EV and AC should refer to the same status date.
- BAC should correspond to the performance measurement baseline used for the analysis.
- Management reserve is treated separately from BAC.
- Bottom-up ETC is optional and is never generated by the site.
Rounding
Calculations use JavaScript floating-point arithmetic and retain full precision internally. Currency displays are rounded for readability while ratios are normally shown to two decimals.
Editorial independence
Advertising does not change calculator outputs, formulas or methodological conclusions. EarnedValueCalc is not affiliated with PMI, the U.S. Department of Energy, or any certification provider.
Change control
Formula or definition changes are reviewed against primary or institutional sources before release. Page-level review dates are updated when methodology is materially revised.
